Nidoviruses in Reptiles: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Since their discovery in 2014, reptile nidoviruses (also known as serpentoviruses) have emerged significant pathogens worldwide. They are for causing severe and often fatal respiratory disease various captive snake species, especially pythons. Related viruses been detected other reptiles with without disease, including wild populations of lizards, freshwater turtles. There many opportunities to better understand the viral diversity, species susceptibility, clinical presentation different this relatively new field research. In collections, can spread quickly be associated high morbidity mortality, yet potential risk remains largely unknown, despite declining on a global scale. Experimental studies or investigations outbreaks scarce, leaving available literature limited mostly exploring findings naturally infected animals captivity. Further into pathogenesis variety is required explore complexity routes transmission. This review focuses biology these viruses, hosts geographic distribution, signs pathology, laboratory diagnosis management nidovirus infections reptiles.

متن کاملMajor genetic marker of nidoviruses encodes a replicative endoribonuclease.
Coronaviruses are important pathogens that cause acute respiratory diseases in humans. Replication of the approximately 30-kb positive-strand RNA genome of coronaviruses and discontinuous synthesis of an extensive set of subgenome-length RNAs (transcription) are mediated by the replicase-transcriptase, a barely characterized protein complex that comprises several cellular proteins and up to 16 ...

Backgrounds Many wild-caught reptiles harbor some kind of parasites. Captivity with negative effect of poor sanitary and husbandry management may lead to clinical disease. The increasing trend in keeping non-native reptile species in the last decade emerged a need for the specification of reptile parasites and their hosts. Objectives The study aims to gain data on intestinal parasites of repti...
متن کاملSleep in amphibians and reptiles: a review and a preliminary analysis of evolutionary patterns.
Despite the ubiquitous nature of sleep, its functions remain a mystery. In an attempt to address this, many researchers have studied behavioural and electrophysiological phenomena associated with sleep in a diversity of animals. The great majority of vertebrates and invertebrates display a phase of immobility that could be considered as a sort of sleep. Terrestrial mammals and birds, both homeo...
